When wearing a Rudraksha bead or mala, it is important to keep it close to your skin to fully benefit from its spiritual properties. Following RRCT guidelines ensures you receive the maximum positive effects from the bead.

Avoid sharing your Rudraksha beads with others, including family members. If you wish to gift a Rudraksha, refrain from wearing it for at least two weeks, re-energize it, and then present it as a gift.

In dry climates, Rudraksha beads may crack. To maintain their condition, apply natural unscented oil (such as olive oil) with a soft toothbrush periodically. Avoid soaking or washing the beads in hot water, as this can damage the seeds inside and cause the beads to crack.

For optimal results, wear your Rudraksha bead continuously, even while sleeping. It can be worn while bathing, but make sure to rinse it with water afterward. If it’s not feasible to wear it 24/7, aim to wear it continuously for at least two weeks initially, and then for at least 10 hours a day.

If dirt or fungal growth appears in the grooves of your Rudraksha, soak it in lukewarm water with a few drops of mild soap for 6-7 hours. Afterward, scrub it gently with a plastic brush, dry it in the shade, and apply a light coat of oil once it’s dry.

If your Rudraksha has been off your body for more than two weeks, consider re-energizing it by chanting "Om Namah Shivaya" 3, 9, 11, 21, 51, or 108 times before wearing it again. It will align with your energy within two weeks of use.

Contrary to some online advice, avoid soaking Rudraksha beads in ghee or milk, as this can attract bacteria and pests. Instead, visit a Shiva temple for consecration or wear them directly to allow them to attune naturally to your body’s energy.

When not in use, store your Rudraksha beads in a dry place. If mold or insect infestation occurs, rinse the beads in lukewarm water, dry them in the shade or using a hairdryer, and store them in the freezer for two days.

Surface-level cracks on your Rudraksha beads do not affect their effectiveness, as they often fill naturally with weather changes. However, if the internal compartments are damaged, it is best to replace the bead. With proper care, Rudraksha beads can last for generations.

Elaborate pujas are not necessary to energize your Rudraksha; simply chanting Beeja or Shiva mantras will help attune the bead to your energy.
